Company: PT Indo Power Distribution
Country: Indonesia
Challenge: Located in a coastal area with severe salt spray corrosion, PT Indo Power faced frequent insulator flashovers and metal fitting rust, leading to monthly power outages. They needed insulators that could resist strong corrosion, maintain hydrophobicity for long periods, and fit their existing 220kV transmission tower hardware.
Solution: We customized anti-corrosion composite insulators tailored to coastal conditions: ① Adopted 316L stainless steel fittings with triple-layer sealing to block salt mist intrusion; ② Enhanced HCI-grade hydrophobic silicone rubber to resist salt deposit accumulation; ③ Designed interchangeable mechanical interfaces complying with IEC 61109 to match their old tower structures without modifications.
Result: After 18 months of use, PT Indo Power reported a 92% reduction in insulator-related outages, and the insulator service life is expected to exceed 25 years (double the previous products). Operational costs for maintenance and replacement dropped by 68%.
